Arrest Reports 1-23-2020

The Simpson County Sheriff’s Office reported 17 arrests from January 13 to January 20.

Shawn Anthony Puckett of 196 Sawmill Road Braxton MS was arrested on January 14 and charged with possession of methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and introducing contraband.

Argie Jane Stapleton

Argie Jane Stapleton (3/4/1924~12/14/2019).  Affectionately called “Maw Maw,” she loved her role as mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.  She was a cherished member of Rock Pisgah M. B. Church.

Argie was preceded in death by her husband, three children, one grandson,  seven sisters and four brothers.

School board delays election

After years of complying with restrictive hiring practices, the Simpson County School Board has issued payment to the law firm of Adams and Reese in conjunction with settlement of the court ordered consent decree from which the county has finally been released.
