Shawn Anthony Puckett of 196 Sawmill Road Braxton MS was arrested on January 14 and charged with possession of methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and introducing contraband.
Well, I snicker a bit when I think why the Magee Lions Club has such good programs. It goes back almost 30 years ago when I moved to Magee. Having been a Lion elsewhere I knew about the fun and good work the club did.
The banquet hall at the Country Club of Jackson was full to hear writer Andy McCarthy speak at a function hosted by Mississippi Center for Public Policy. McCarthy is a columnist for the National Review and has recently published a book, Ball of Collusion: The Plot to Rig an Election and Destroy a Presidency.

Norman Edgar Hicks Jr, (Snooks)84, of Magee, passed from this life Monday at home in Magee. He was born Friday, February 1, 1935.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home Magee.
The board of the Simpson County School District called two special meetings prior to their regular board meeting on Jan. 9, each with a specific purpose. One was to discuss the district’s use of ballfields for high school play in Magee. The second meeting was to discuss the facilities use plan that had been produced by Bailey Consulting.

Several reports of leaks came to the Magee Board of Aldermen for attention at their recent meeting. The leaks have followed recent borings as a result of new cable being put in Magee for high speed internet.
The Simpson County School District may have the final word on the Washington Street Park, which the City of Magee has asked the district to transfer to them.
A state law requires that if a school property no longer serves the needs of the community its ownership will revert to the school district.

The Simpson County Board of Supervisors met for their final meeting of the year on December 13. It was the final meeting for several of the department heads and elected officials. Dean Blackwell appeared before the board to discuss the access road to the industrial park located near Bowen Road.
Southern Rock LLC recently completed dirt work for the Mendenhall frontage road. The road will be located between East Street and the intersection of Highway 49 and Highway 13. The project was completed on schedule and paving will begin soon.
I’m writing because The Nutrition Site in Magee has not had any heat since November 21st. The maintenance man was called but he could not fix it. He told us someone was called to fix it, but he was in Memphis. The heater is still not working.

The status of some missing weapons surfaced during the board meeting of the Simpson County Board of Supervisors.
According to Sheriff Greg Reynolds, approximately five pistols are unaccounted for. Two are derringer type pistols. The guns were listed on the county inventory in 2016 and now the where abouts are unknown.

Jason Jordan of 616 Hillen Bale Hattiesburg MS was arrested on September 16 and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Morgan Dunn of Magee is jumping into the political race for Mississippi’s Third Congressional Seat.
The seat has been held by Congressman Gregg Harper, who recently announced his decision not to seek re-election for the position he has held since 2009.
