Simpson County Sheriff Paul Mullins reported that during the early morning of February 10, the sheriff’s department received a call reporting a stabbing and a house fire on Garrett Road North. The Harrisville and Braxton Fire departments along with AMR responded to the fire quickly.

Simpson County has been approved to implement the Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) for severe damage to eligible agricultural land related to a series of tornadoes on December 16, 2019.
On the morning of February 17, Simpson County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Payne tried to initiate a traffic stop on a red SUV on Coats Road. The driver was later identified as Jeffery J. Craft of Mount Olive. Craft refused to stop, and continued to evade Payne through Overby Road and onto Tugwell Road.

Sheriff Paul Mullins reported that deputies responded to a call of gunshots in the Mary Grove community on the afternoon of February 6. Mullins said as deputies responded to the area dispatch received a call from Magee Police Department stating there was a gunshot victim at the Magee Hospital.
It appears that the voters of Simpson County may finally be able to decide whether they want alcoholic beverages to be served in Simpson County.

I’m writing because The Nutrition Site in Magee has not had any heat since November 21st. The maintenance man was called but he could not fix it. He told us someone was called to fix it, but he was in Memphis. The heater is still not working.
The Simpson County Board of Supervisors met for their final meeting of the year on December 13. It was the final meeting for several of the department heads and elected officials. Dean Blackwell appeared before the board to discuss the access road to the industrial park located near Bowen Road.
Trustmark Bank through a legal notice that appears in this week’s paper has announced foreclosure proceeding against the Medical Towers at Tuscan Court adjacent to Magee General Hospital.
The facility is owned in part by Dr. Charles Pruitt and Magee General Hospital.
The board of directors of Simpson General Hospital made it official. On January 1, 2018, David Welch was named the administrator and chief executive officer for the hospital.
Welch had been interim administrator in March of 2016 and has worked with the hospital in various capacities since May 2007.

Jason Jordan of 616 Hillen Bale Hattiesburg MS was arrested on September 16 and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Morgan Dunn of Magee is jumping into the political race for Mississippi’s Third Congressional Seat.
The seat has been held by Congressman Gregg Harper, who recently announced his decision not to seek re-election for the position he has held since 2009.
Mr. and Mrs. James Mangum and Mr. and Mrs. Danny Burch are pleased to announce the engagement of their children, Olivia Carsyn Byars and Davin James Burch.
