James Yelverton passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019, at Magee General Hospital. He was born on January 28, 1939, to James Albert Yelverton Jr. and Marie (Maddox) Yelverton Ware.
James worked for over 40 years with Illinois Central Gulf Railroad before retiring. He was a lifelong member of Sharon Presbyterian Church.
He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, as well as a very proud grandfather and great grandfather, caring brother and trusting friend.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; three sons, Robbin Yelverton, Clint Yelverton, Darryl Yelverton; brother, David Yelverton (Norma); sisters, Alba Maria Garner, Texine Gregory; grandchildren, Ethan Yelverton, Colton Yelverton, Tate Yelverton, Cheyenne Yelverton; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Yelverton and Emelia Yelverton.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Reba Lou Yelverton and Rosemary Smith.
Visitation for family and friends was held on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Services were at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2019, at Tutor Funeral Home with interment following in Sharon Cemetery. Rev. Curt Presley and Rev. Dale Linton officiated.
Pallbearers were Ethan Yelverton, Tate Yelverton, Colton Yelverton, Matt Boehs, Darrell Grubbs and Lance Pearson.
