Gravesite services were held for Mrs. Mary C. Jones Turner, 82, (Simpson, Covington and Smith counties) on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at 12 noon from the Mt. Zion Jr. Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Olive, MS. Interment was in the church cemetery. Officiants were Reverend R. J. Walker, Reverend Eddie Cole, Reverend Mark Johnson and Reverend Leonard Keyes, pastor of Mt. Zion Jr.
Reeves Funeral Home, Inc., Mount Olive, MS was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Turner passed away at Specialty Select Hospital, Jackson, MS.
Honorary pallbearers were Ivy Duckworth, Jr., W. O. Craft, Jr., Monroe Sherman, John Walker, Danny Duckworth, and Fountaine McNair.
Pallbearers were Aundrial Turner, Bobby Duckworth, Ray Duckworth, Alex Turner, Michael Turner, and Calvin Keller.
Flower bearers were nieces and granddaughters.
Mrs. Turner attended school in Smith County. She furthered her education in cosmetology in Jackson, MS. She accepted Christ at any early age. She was employed for 30 years at Universal Plant (Magnetek), inMendenhall. She was an excellent baker and cooked and sold meals to road workers for a number of years. Her ministry was to the community and was shared with a loving heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan Jones, Sr. and Mary Jones Jaynes; stepfather, Ethel Jaynes; husband, Edward E. Turner; son, Elden E. Turner; daughter, Ella Small; sisters, Fannie, Lovie and Alberta; and brother, J. D. Jones.
Survivors include daughters, Shelly and Teresia, Magee; godson, Billy Snell (Angelique) Bryam, MS; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; siblings, Loretta Duckworth (Ivy), Mt. Olive, Patricia Howell (Jerry), Gulfport, MS, Essie Goree, Shannon, MS and Reverend Dan Jones, Jr. ( Linda) Houston, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
