Funeral services for Reverend Andrew Keys, 67, Collins, MS were held on Saturday, November 20, 2019 at 1PM from Rocky Valley Missionary Baptist Church, Collins. Interment was in the Old Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, Collins, MS. Program Officiant was Reverend Dr. L. C. Firle. Eulogist was Reverend Kevin Russell. Reeves Funeral Home, Inc., Mount Olive, MS was in charge of the arrangements.
Reverend Keys passed away on November 22, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital, Gulfport, Mississippi.
Early in his life, he professed faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at Lilly Valley Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Carver Central High School, Collins, MS in 1969. He attended Jones County Community College to further his education.
He accepted his calling to the Gospel in 1970 and was licensed to preach on July 4, 1976 at Lilly Valley MBC and was ordained on October 28, 1978 at Jones Chapel MBC. His first Pastor Ship was at Mount Aid Missionary Baptist Church, Ellisville, MS. He was also the guiding shepherd of Altair Missionary Baptist Church, Waynesboro, MS, and Rock Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, Mendenhall, MS, Rocky Valley Missionary Baptist Church, Collins where he pastored both churches for more than 35 years.
Reverend Keys was a dedicated member of the Covington County School Board for 8 years. He served his county and community faithfully. Foremost, he was the anchor of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and Ethelene Keys, paternal grandparents, Arthur Keys and Polly Ann Mayfield Keys. Maternal grandparents, George W. McLaurin and Eartha B. Pope McLaurin. Mother-in-law, Florine D. Beasley; brother in laws, John L. Graves, Arthurs L. Turner and sister in law, Cora M. Turner, and nieces, Stephanie L. Turner.
Survivors include, devoted wife, Allie Mae Keys; daughter, Andrea ( Ray McLaurin), son, Tremaine(Yolanda) Keys, brothers, Arthur L. ( Peggy) Keys and George O. (Arquita) Keys, all of Collins. Sisters, Lou E. Humphries, Spring Valley, CA, Lucinda K. Speights and Pauline S. ( Artis) Fairley, Collins, Diane A. Drake, Baton Rouge, LA, Loretta C. Keys, Ruby G. Aldridge and Linda F. Burkett, all of Collins. Brother in laws, Dennis Beasley, Collins, and Freddie ( Tindell) Beasley, Pearl, MS. Three sister in laws, Annie Beasley, Collins, Teresa Hall and Tommiesene Beasley, both of Gulfport.
Seven grandchildren, Andrew, Ragan, Tremayia, Tayla, Treasure, JaKyra and Kalysia. A legacy of 59 nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
