The Simpson County Federation of Democratic Women held a well attended commemoration banquet on February 7 at the PriorityOne Senior Citizen in Magee. The banquet was in honor of Black History month with the theme “The Path Forward – Unity in the Community.”
Speakers for the event were Mrs. Roshea Dampeer, cosmetologist and salon owner of One Touch Beauty Salon for 24 years; Dr. Romonica Feazell, educator with over 25 years of experience; and Mrs. Tarrah Lockhart, educator of 19 years and real estate professional.
The three speakers high-lighted their personal journeys to become successful and happy. They also emphasized having open hearts and minds, sharing stories, embracing diversity, respecting others and emphasizing that working together is a Path Forward to Unity in the Community.
Kim Jackson, Jearlean Rogers, Tameika Smith and Melinda Green were recognized for their tenacity as former candidates in Simpson County.
