Unofficial election results came in last night, and many of the local races were decided by a wide margin. Of the 17,148 registered voters in Simpson County, over 8,896 cast their ballots, and participated deciding new leadership. This is one of the largest turnouts with over 51 percent of the voting population participating.

Gregg Harper has held this position since 2008 but announced that he would not seek re-election in January of this year.

Asked about the reason for her decision, she said, “The time is right in my life to seek the position.”
