Allie Welch of Braxton is one of four students to win the 2025 Mississippi Poultry Foundation Scholarships. Allie, a senior at Simpson County Academy, is the daughter of Zackary and Shannon Welch. After graduation, she plans to attend a community college to start pursing a degree in agribusiness. The Mississippi Poultry Foundation, created in 2005, has awarded $190,000 in 70 scholarships to 64 different students. Those who are majoring in poultry science, are the children or grandchildren of MPA grower members or are Mississippi residents receive extra weight on the selection.
A scholarship committee of educators at the university, community college, and high school levels, and an extension specialist review the applications and choose four students each year to receive the $4000 scholarships.
