The Braxton Volunteer Fire Department will mark a major milestone this year with a 50th Anniversary Pageant celebrating five decades of service and dedication to the community.
The event will honor the department’s long-standing commitment to protecting and serving the citizens of Braxton and surrounding areas, while also raising funds to support its ongoing operations.
The all-crown pageant will feature divisions for Infant, Toddler, Little Miss/Mr., Preteen, Teen, Miss and Mrs., with every contestant receiving a crown. Organizers say the event is designed to celebrate community pride and provide an opportunity for participants of all ages to be part of the department’s historic celebration. Makeup should be age appropriate, stones and gems are welcome, and natural dresses are encouraged. Contestants are invited to wear their favorite dress. This is a fun pageant where personality brings home the win.
A highlight of the event will be the presentation of the Randy Hays Legacy Service Award. The award will go to the contestant with the most verified community service hours and includes a cash prize. The honor recognizes Chief Randy Hays and his 35 years of service to Simpson County, celebrating his legacy of leadership and dedication.
The pageant will be held at the Braxton Baptist Church gymnasium, located at 101 Oak Ave. in Braxton. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m., and the pageant will begin at 1 p.m.
The entry fee is $40 per contestant, with a $5 sibling discount per participant. Admission for attendees is $5 for ages 3 and up.
Checks may be mailed to Braxton Fire Rescue, P.O. Box 8, Braxton, MS 39044. Payment is also accepted via Cash App at $RedlineStrongMS.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Braxton Volunteer Fire Department.
