Charlene Dial Dudley, 93, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, passed away on September 23, 2024, at the BeeHive in Petal, Mississippi. Mrs. Dudley was a past Purvis United Methodist Church member and a long-time member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Braxton, Mississippi.
Charlene is survived by her son, Rodney Dudley (Ellen), and daughters, Dr. Sue Walker Cunningham (Ron) and Dr. Angela Bruni (Jeff); grandchildren, Anna Marie Lenz, Dr. Dava Cleveland, Ross Dudley (Anna), Chase Dudley (Brittney), Tye Dudley, Alana Donohue, Dr. Bryant Walker, Dr. Catie Lee Bruni, and Jeff Bruni, Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carrie and Charlie Dial; her daughter, Dr. Anneliese Gongre (Charles); her brothers, Charlie Dial and Dr. John Dial; her first husband, Hubert Dudley; her second husband, Charles M. Hensleigh, and grandson Christopher Bruni.
Mrs. Dudley graduated from high school at 14 and from business school at 16. She later became a Mississippi artist. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in accounting and served our state as a Mississippi state auditor. She also became a CPA.
A family graveside service was held on Saturday, September 28, at the Braxton Cemetery, Braxton, Mississippi, and a memorial service will be held in the fellowship hall of Main Street Baptist Church, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m.
