State investment will advance wastewater lagoon upgrades and localized flooding and erosion improvements.
MAGEE, Miss. — The City of Magee is pleased to announce the approval of $750,000 in state funding secured through Senator Andy Berry (District 35), Representative Price Wallace (District 77) and Representative Noah Sanford (District 90) during the 2026 Mississippi Legislative Session. The funding will support two critical infrastructure projects that directly impact the health, safety, and quality of life of Magee residents.
The approved funding is allocated as follows:
$500,000 – Lagoon, wastewater and drainage improvements.
$250,000 – Infrastructure improvements.
Wastewater Lagoon Improvements
The City’s wastewater system is central to maintaining regulatory compliance and delivering reliable utility service to Magee residents. The existing lagoon facilities have served the community for many years and now require targeted improvements to enhance treatment performance and long-term reliability. Funding will also support critical upgrades to the City’s wastewater pumping stations.
Drainage and Infrastructure Improvements
Magee continues to experience localized flooding across multiple areas of the community during significant rainfall events. Aging and undersized drainage infrastructure contributes to flooding of streets, utilities, and public facilities, creating safety concerns and impacting residents and businesses alike. This investment will fund city drainage improvements designed to reduce these recurring issues and protect the community long-term.
Acknowledgment
Mayor Grubbs and the Board of Aldermen of the City of Magee extend their sincere appreciation to Senator Andy Berry, Representative Price Wallace and Representative Noah Sanford for their support of this funding request during the 2026 legislative session. The City originally submitted a request for $1,000,000 to address both wastewater and drainage needs. The $750,000 award reflects the state’s recognition of Magee’s infrastructure priorities and represents meaningful progress toward the City’s long-term improvement goals.
