The Covington County Genealogical and Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, for a tour of the houses on the Mt. Olive Boulevard. We will meet at the Mount Olive Baptist Church, where we will board golf carts for the tour up and down the Main Street, which was a four-lane drive from its design in 1899 until this century, when the highway department redesigned each side as a single lane. During the morning, we will visit The Basket Shoppe to see the handmade baskets. A sandwich lunch will be available for order on the day of the tour. A gospel singing will be held on Saturday, April 18, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 830 Simpson Hwy. 28 west, Pinola, MS. Author John Shivers will be at the Magee Public Library on Tuesday, April 21, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. to talk about writing, introduce his newest novel, “Hysterical Preservation,” and sign copies. Come and meet the author!

An Author Meet-and-Greet for local author Lollie Wheat will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 10 a.m.-12 noon at the Mendenhall Public Library. She will introduce her debut novel, “Barefoot Beginnings” and sign copies. Everyone is invited.

The Mississippi Scholars and Tech Master Scholars Recognition Reception will be held at the Magee High School Auditorium on Thursday, April 23, at 6 p.m. The speaker is Drummonds McAlpin, president and CEO of Southern Pine Electric Cooperative.
The Magee Lions Club will hold their annual Lions Club Golf Tournament on Thursday, April 23, at the Simpson County Country Club. The fee to play in the 3-man scramble is $300 per team. Lunch will be served at the club at 11 a.m. Tee time is 12:30 p.m. Register now by contacting any Magee Lions Club member.

The Pinola School annual school reunion will be Sat., April 25, at the Pinola Community Center, 581 School House Rd., Pinola, MS. Any and all former students, teachers and friends are invited. A meal will be furnished for $10 per plate. You are welcome to bring a dessert if you like. The doors will be opened at 9 a.m., and the business meeting begins about 11 a.m. with lunch following. Overflow Church sponsors a Food Pantry Distribution every third Wednesday evening of each month. Times will be 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. by appointment only.
