Greater Vision, Gospel Music’s most awarded trio, will be in concert Friday, September 15, at 7 p.m. at Heritage United Methodist Church, Hwy 98W at Baracuda Drive in Hattiesburg (Oak Grove). There is no admission charge. A $12 donation will be requested at the door (no one turned away) and a love offering will be taken during the concert. Proceeds will go to support Greater Vision’s ministry. Doors open at 6 p.m. Children are welcome. Seating is limited. Plan to arrive early for best seats and parking. The Zachary Little Memorial Bike Ride and 5K will be held September 16 on the Trace. Ride starts at 8 a.m. Run starts at 8:10 a.m. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. The price is $25 and includes a t-shirt. Zachary Little, of Sumrall, passed away in March 2012 with Medulloblastoma. All money raised goes to help others in need. Creating Second Chances (C2C) will host a Suicide Awareness Seminar to provide information, tools, and resources for friends, parents, and educators to identify at-risk behavior and know how to help. September 29, 30 and Oct. 1
The 30th Annual MS Pecan Festival will be held on September 29, 30 and Oct. 1 in Richton. Events at the weekend long festival are arts and crafts, live craft demonstrations, broom maker, basket maker, draft horse farming, mule pull, blacksmith demos, bluegrass and gospel music and much more.
October 7
The Crazy Day Beauty Pageant will be Saturday, October 7 at 2p.m. at the Magee High School Auditorium. Admission is $5. Children 4 and under, entry is free. Entry fee is $30; Siblings 2 for $50. Entry fee deadline is September 28. Checks should be made payable to Magee Chamber of Commerce. October 28
An Old Fashioned Day will be held in the Town of Braxton, on Saturday, Oct. 28. Braxton Fire Department will sell hamburgers, sausage dogs, and steak sandwiches. There will be entertainment in the park along with many other events, such as pumpkin smashing, costume contest, car show and fun booths. Everyone is invited to attend this annual event.
Combined classes of 1967 (50 years), 1968, 1969 and anyone who graduated from Magee are invited to a Magee Trojan Reunion on October 28 at 6 p.m. at the Magee National Guard Armory. Morning prayer and afternoon luncheon is held every Thursday at Mt. Moriah Church. Prayer time is 11 a.m. until noon. Lunch and fellowship time is 12:15-1:15 p.m. Prayer and lunch is open to all people to get spiritually fed and natural food for the soul. Senior citizens, the needy and the homeless, come and bring a friend. Mt. Moriah Church is located at 160 Mt. Moriah Church Road, Magee.
The Books-n-Lunch Club meets at the Magee Library at 12:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month to discuss a book chosen for adult readers. New participants are welcome.
