Tremaine Haynes Sentenced to 40 years

District Attorney Chris Hennis reports on May 16, 2023, after a two day trial, a Simpson County jury found Tremaine Haynes guilty of Second Degree Murder in the shooting death of Joshua Thurman. The shooting occurred on October 31, 2021, on Big V Road in southern Simpson County.

Easterling Sentenced to Six Years

On Monday, May 8, 2023, after a day long trial, a Simpson County Jury returned a Guilty verdict against Alexander Easterling, Sr. for possession of methamphetamine, a Schedule Two Controlled Substance. Easterling was arrested and charged after a traffic stop in Magee led to the discovery of the illegal drugs in his vehicle.
