At a Thursday night special called meeting, the Magee Board of Aldermen selected Denis Borges for the position of City of Magee Police Chief.
The board conducted interviews with five candidates for the position before selecting Borges..
Borges will assume his duties on September 15.
Chief Borges is a graduate of West Jones High School (Class of 2009), Jones College, and Columbia Southern University. Borges is presently working on his master’s degree.
He has worked for the MS Department of Mental Health, Hattiesburg School District Police, Laurel Police Department, Jones College Campus Police, and the Picayune Police Department. Borges is presently employed with Ellisville Police Department. He is fluent in Spanish as well as English. Borges is married and has one child.
The new chief will be introduced at the next City of Magee Board of Aldermen meeting, which begins at 6 p.m.
