If some of these men who have gotten into trouble for sexually harassing the women who worked for them or wanted to work for them had invested in a better mirror, maybe they wouldn’t have made the errors in judgment that have led to their downfall.
Most of them have been old, overweight or both. To fool themselves into thinking that attractive young women would be interested in them romantically takes a lot of self-delusion, or some really poor eyesight.
Charlie Rose is the latest case in point.
The now unemployed and disgraced 75-year-old newsman had a pattern of trying to seduce or expose himself to women who were young enough to be his granddaughter.
According to his accusers, on at least a couple of occasions he emerged naked from the shower after summoning young female aides to come to his residence to ostensibly help brief him for upcoming interviews. Although Rose might have kept himself decently trim, he obviously didn’t learn one of the cardinal rules of aging: The older people get, the better they look with their clothes on. Not many young women are interested in seeing a man in his 60s and 70s in his birthday suit.
Wealth and celebrity are said to be powerful aphrodisiacs. They aren’t too good, though, at hiding wrinkles, flab and loss of muscle tone.
