The wife and I have been having a lot of poliltical conversations as of late. She is a dyed in the wool Trump supporter. While I voted for President Donald Trump and I assume he will still be president there are a lot of things that I like and some I am not very pleased with. However, I do feel that President Trump more closely aligns with my beliefs so I personally supported him again. I am predicting that if the election were based on Simpson County he would retain the presidency.
I am very pleased that my retirement account has grown during his presidency. I consider myself very fortunate to continue to be employeed despite a world-wide pandemic. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to go and worship on Sunday morning and practice my faith to the level that I feel comfortable. I like the way that the United States is no longer a whipping boy for much of the world and we are no longer expected to carry the financial burden when there are other countries which are quite capable of pitching in and carrying their share.
It appears that President Trump likes to bully folks and that is not the best way to get things accomplished. It may accomplish what you want, but he is holding the most powerful position in the world and those are not the best practices.
I agree that we must all get back to work and be productive but we need to be smart about how we do that. If it takes wearing a mask then do so. The American people are getting a lot of mixed signals about the pandemic when what we need is accurate and correct information so we can make informed decisions.
I find it hard to believe that the United States could be out of the fossil fuel business any time in the near future. This would profoundly impact our entire economy.
The Affordable Care Act did not work as it was sold during President Obama’s administration. While there may be some merits to affordable healthcare for everyone, there must be a reasonable way to fund it.
We now face another dilema of how we are going to pay the debt that was incurred during the first stimulus package of the pandemic. We may be fortunate that another package was not passed. But we should not have to incur more debt for all the looting and burning that has been going on all over the country.
There is no way to support this bailout or other huge financial social programs. The tax payers are already on the hook for the first bailout. It is my understanding that a lot of pork barrel politics were associated with the first package. I don’t know if this is true because it seems we can no longer trust the national media.
In discussion about the follow up assistance and what was in the details as far as supporting other social programs, that is for the birds.
If members of Congress were facing financial ruin, I suspect they would be much quicker to come up with a plan to protect themselves and do what is necessary.
