This past weekend was really a lot of fun from my perspective even though we didn’t “do” anything. To be honest I am perfectly good with being at home to play and do some piddling around the house.
Nancy and I started the weekend early with a date to the movie in Jackson to see Maverick, which is a spin-off of the 80s classic, Top Gun. We saw the movie in HD which is High Definition. I was impressed. The first of the movie had Tom Cruise coming on and discussing the cinematography. Nancy and I used to be regular movie goers, but the last few years put a damper on that activity. We were trying to recall the last movie we watched in a theater setting and think it was in 2017.
Friday night we ran by The Vault for a few minutes to listen to live music by B. C. Duett. We stayed about an hour, which had us leaving by 7 p.m. You know how it is for old people. Saturday morning I told Nancy I was going to get out of her hair so she could get some stuff done. What I really meant was that I was going to play golf and would see her later.
I had noticed my clubs were getting a bit worn so I took them to Jackson to get new grips. They told me it would be the next day so I had to leave them and make another trip to Jackson. Normally, that is not a big deal, but have you filled up lately? I did and it was $95. The running up to Jackson may be curtailed a bit in the future.
Hey, I got home and it was time to head to Forest for a young cousin’s wedding. We stayed and enjoyed visiting with family and before long it was time to head home— remember the bit about “old people.” Nancy said, “You maybe referring to yourself but not me.”
Sunday morning I attended Brotherhood, which meets once a month. Then on to Sunday school and church. I went home for a sandwich before leaving to pick up my clubs.
Nancy went to lay out with one of her cronies.
She had offered to help me with the new boat I had bought in March which had yet to see the water. I had been getting it ready for the maiden voyage making sure everything was functional. We drove over to Prentiss Walker Lake near Mize, a quick ten minute drive from Magee. I backed into the water, adjusted everything, and started her and she fired right up.
We cruised around the lake for about 30 minutes, glad to find that everything was in working order. We decided it was time to head home and get ready for the start of another week.
Not bad for a weekend with nothing really to do. I think I would enjoy several more like this one.
