Ellis Welland Thornton passed away November 8. He is survived by his fiancée, partner, caregiver, and love, Kathy Padgett, and family who were by his side through it all— his son, Joshua Thornton, his cherished granddaughter, Leah Thornton, and his daughter Ashley Thornton; his beloved sisters, Inez and her husband Walker, and Francis Pittman, along with numerous nieces and nephews whom he adored. Ellis is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Nannie Thornton; his brothers, Garland Dale and Kendall; and his sister, Willa Faye.
Visitation with the family was held on November 12, 2025, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Graveside services followed at Magee City Cemetery at 2 p.m.
