Second round of the MYFA playoffs this weekend for our Peewee (11-12yrs) group. We welcomed the Warriors of Oak Grove to Tiger stadium.
The Falcon Peewees (11-12yrs) began the game on offense. Their first series would be a three and out as the Warrior defense forced a punt. The Warriors’ second play from scrimmage would be a 45-yard pass/run touchdown. The Falcons would stop the extra points attempt. At the end of the first quarter the Warriors led 6-0. Falcons once again would have to punt on their second series. The Falcon defense forced a fumble on the Warriors’ second series. Quarterback Bryson Caffie handed the ball off to running back Ben Martin, who scored on a 40-yard touchdown. Warriors foiled the PAT, bringing the score to 6-6. On the ensuing Warrior series, they went to the air again and would strike deep into Falcon territory and score with a 55-yard pass/run touchdown. Falcon defense once again stopped the PAT. At the half Warriors 12 Falcons 6. In the second half on its first drive Oak Grove’s running back broke a tackle in the backfield and a second tackle down field for a 50-yard touchdown. PAT was no good and the Warriors go up 18-6. The Falcons would drive deep into Warrior territory on their first series of the half but turn the ball over on downs. Warriors drove down the field on their next series and punched it on a 10-yard run. Falcons stopped the extra point attempt again. Warriors 24 Falcons 6. Midway of the fourth quarter, they would strike once again through the air on a 50-yard pass/run touchdown. The PAT was good, Warriors 32 Falcons 6. At the end of the fourth quarter, Falcon running back Jamari Nelson would break 3 tackle attempts on a 45-yard touchdown run as time expired. The final score Warriors 32 Falcons 12.
These young men worked and played their hearts out all season long, averaging over 40 points per game and until this game only allowing 6 points scored. They are the MYFA District 3 champions. Congratulations to the Oak Grove (Gold) Warriors on an outstanding season and good luck in the next round of playoffs.
