UMC churches disaffiliate

Over the last three years several United Methodist churches across the US, this state and this county have elected to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Conference. At this point, four churches in Simpson County have completed the process with one waiting for approval in December, 2023.

Kerstyn Jones of Mendenhall, MS, will be a contestant in the state wide Little Miss and Mr. Magnolia State Pageant finals in Vicksburg, Miss., on September 23-24, 2023. She is the daughter of Christopher and Sade Jones.Contestants ages 0-11 years old will compete in the state finals to win one of the coveted titles of Little Miss or Mr.

Garners celebrate 60th anniversary

Bill and Kat Garner, high-school sweethearts, celebrate 60 years of marriage on September 20, 2023. After 24 years in the U.S. Air Force, and tours in New Mexico, Nevada and three assignments in Germany—retired Chief Master Sgt. Bill Garner and his wife Kathryn returned to Magee, where the couple still resides.
