Coop D’ville Tanning Salon is hosting an open house to show off the most recent expansion of the shop. It will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 5. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy refreshments and register to win door prizes,
Since opening Coop D’ville Tanning Salon in Magee in 2011, owner Brenda Cooper’s business has flourished and continues to do so even today as they have just completed their third expansion.
Cooper said she pretty much handles the day to day operations herself but her husband David will help out when needed.
She started her business started with two tanning beds in 2011 but quickly had to expand because of her growing customer base, which at the time was 60 regular customers.
She said that right now toward the end of February and first of March is her busiest season of the year. She said her customers are getting ready for spring events and they want to look their best. She added that the number of men who go to tanning beds would surprise you. After the early spring burst of business, the clientele switches to those who are getting ready to go to the beach. Of course, high school girls are interested in having a pretty tan in time for spring proms.
Cooper said most people do not realize that you need to have a consistent base of tanning before being able to safely go out on the beach and spend long periods of time in the sun. Typically, that requires two months of gradual tanning and she suggests that you should start on smaller amounts of time and build up to the desired level; otherwise, you may get burned and have to start over on the tanning process.
There has been much discussion as to whether it is healthy to use tanning beds too frequently. However, Cooper said that she has had doctors recommend using tanning beds particularly for those who have psoriasis. She said she has seen several circumstances where clients get relief from the condition from tanning. They often come to the salon to get a jump on battling this and other skin issues. Cooper said that using a tanning bed also increases the vitamin “E” levels.

“I have been to a lot of different tanning salons over the years because I love a good tan. But I was never all that satisfied with the results I had gotten. But I can truly say, I'm very satisfied with the results, I get at Coop D'Ville in Magee. I would highly recommend to anyone, if you want good results.”

I have recently started tanning at Coop D'ville Tanning in Magee. I absolutely love the clean and welcoming environment. The beds are all very well maintained and I have never tanned so easily. They also offer several lotions to enhance your tan.
I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a local, nice and clean tanning salon run and maintained by sweet and amazing people! Oh, and the new addition and hard work they have put into the place will not disappoint! Of all places, I highly recommend giving Coop D'ville Tanning a try!

“Hi, my name is Kay Tanner. And I have tanned at Coop D'Ville for over 3 years now. I wouldn't tan anywhere else. It is a clean, friendly environment. Mrs. Brenda is the best! I love tanning at Coop D'Ville. Also, I have to say..I used to buy my tanning lotions on line because I thought I was getting them cheaper, what a deal right? No no, let me tell you..I soon figured out that the lotions I was getting on line was not the same as what I got from Mrs Brenda directly. I love the " tingle " for example, and the last bottle I purchased on line was not anywhere near as hot as the bottle I later purchased from her. So when you think you're getting a "good deal " you are actually not because the bottle I ended up buying from her was the real lotion! It worked 10 times better than what I had purchased from Amazon! So, something to think about next time you get a lotion. If you want a clean friendly establishment, then I strongly suggest you get all your tanning needs from Ms. Brenda at Coop D'Ville Tanning Salon. I wouldn't tan anywhere else!”
Brenda said they currently have eight beds and 30-40 regular customers, and they welcome walk-in customers also. Their monthly program includes unlimited tanning with one visit per day. The cost for the monthly program is $55. Walk-in appointments cost $12 per visit.
They are open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. They close at 8 p.m. on Fridays and are open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until noon. They accept debit card and cash for payment.
After starting the business in 2011, Cooper added an additional tanning bed in 2012, and in 2013 she added a 13 minute bed with another 12-minute bed in 2018.
The business saw their first expansion in 2018 when they doubled the size of their facility. As 2021 rolled around it was time to add additional space to what they were quickly out-growing.
Now in addition to the 10, 12 13 and 20 tanning beds they offer a comprehensive line of tanning products that include Designer Skin, Ed Harvey and Devoted Creations.
Coop D’Ville is easy to find. Just take Hwyl. 28 West out of Magee, where the road forks past the old YMCA, bear to the right at the fork, and follow Coats Road three tenths of a mile, and look for the sign on the left. If you make it to the paved road on the left, you have gone too far.
