Re: Reopening School Plans for August
Dear Parents, Students, and Staff:
Thank you for your continued support of the Simpson County School District as we are dealing with the unexpected challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. We know that there are several concerns and questions related to how schools will reopen in August and I want to assure you that we have been working diligently to come up with the best option for the families of Simpson County.
Out top priority is the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff, so all of our planning is being carefully thought out to ensure compliance with the guidelines from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), and the Mississippi Department of Education. It is our desire to return to school as normal (traditional) with enhanced safety and cleaning procedures. However, that decision is not final at this point. We are still planning and considering all options but we will notify you by July 20 of the final decision on how we will reopen our schools again.
All students will be required to register this year and you can find the registration link on our district's website starting Monday, June 29. If you are a returning student and your address has NOT changed you will not be required to submit proofs of residency but if your address has changed you WILL BE required to submit proofs of residency. All new students will be required to submit the necessary proofs of residency. The details and necessary documents for registration will be listed on our district's website at www.simpson.k12.ms.us
Let me encourage you to visit our webpage frequently and follow our social media for the most up to date and accurate information regarding the school district.
