Frydis Meadows Hansbrough, 92, passed away May 1, 2025 in Hattiesburg, MS. She was born on June 21, 1932, to John Franklin Meadows and Lillie Rankin in Simpson County.
Frydis is a lifelong resident of Magee, MS. She attended Magee High School for her high school education and went on to Copiah Lincoln Community College after graduating. After Co-Lin, Frydis attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where she received her degree in education and home economics. She met the love of her life, John Hansbrough, while she was teaching in Holly Bluff, MS. In her spare time, she had a passion for sewing and visiting with her children and grandchildren. Frydis adored all her family and friends. She especially admired her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was proud of each and every one of them.
Frydis was a lifelong Presbyterian and a member of Sharon Presbyterian Church in Magee, MS. In her younger years Frydis served on several of the chuch committees and was always willing to help.
Frydis is preceeded in death by her husband, John Lewis Hansbrough; parents, John Meadows and Lillie Rankin; her brothers, Ottis Meadows, Eward Meadows, and Frank Meadows; her sisters, Analene Moore and Lillie Pearl Wadlington.
Frydis is survived by her two sons, John Robert Hansbrough (Gisele) and Fredrick Neil Hansbrough (Tammy); six granddaughters Casey Struchen (Tommy), Alyssa Gray (Joseph), Lindsey Evans (Nash), Megan Rainey (Bradford), Carley Cockrell (Colby), and Kelley Hansbrough; and nine great-grandchildren, along with a host of many nieces, nephews, friends and her church family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The service will be on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Sharon Presbyterian Church, Magee, MS.
