The Mendenhall High School “Tiger Pride” Marching Band competed at The MHSAA/MBDA Region IV State Marching Band Evaluation, held at Pearl High School on Saturday, October 12th. The band received superior ratings in all captions and qualified to compete at The MHSAA/MBDA 4A State Marching Championship on Saturday, October 26th.
The MHSAA/MBDA State Championship is an annual band competition with bands from across the State of Mississippi. It is intended to select the top high school band in each class in the state.
In order to qualify for the State Championship, a band must receive overall superior ratings at their regional evaluation.
This will be Mendenhall’s ninth visit to the state championship.
Leading into this championship, the band has had a successful year. Receiving All Superior Ratings and Best in Class at The Copiah Marching Band Contest on October 5th, All Superior Ratings at The MHSAA/MBDA Region IV State Marching Band Evaluation, 2nd Place Band, 1st place Drum Major, 1st place Percussion, 2nd place color guard at The Pearl Invitational Marching Band Competition on October 12th.
The “Tiger Pride” Band will wrap up their competitive marching season at the State Championship on October 26th. The band performs at 5:45pm at Pearl High School. Awards will be presented at 6:15.
The band is under the direction of Mr. Mark Hudson.
