Mendenhall, Mississippi – March 24th, 2025 – Kendarious Marquise Dampeer entered a plea of guilty to 2nd Degree Murder in the death of Tazah Amethyst Hosey. Dampeer was sentenced to a term of 40 years, with 30 years to be served incarcerated day-for-day, by Judge Matt Sullivan.
Ms. Hosey was found deceased on December 24th, 2023, having been shot to death in a vehicle on Paul Kennedy Road outside of Magee. An investigation of the crime by the Simpson County Sherriff’s Office developed Dampeer as a suspect after being seen leaving a local gas station with the victim.
District Attorney Chris Hennis commended Sherriff Paul Mullins and the Simpson County Sheriff's Office for their outstanding investigation, which led to the swift apprehension of the defendant and the diligent collection of evidence that secured the conviction.
"Violent crime will not be tolerated in the 13th Judicial District," stated District Attorney Chris Hennis. "Those who choose violence will be met with the full force of the law and harsh punishment."
In addition to the term of incarceration, Defendant Dampeer was ordered to pay court costs, fines, and contribute to the Mississippi Crime Victim Compensation Fund administered by the Attorney General's Office upon his release.
The case was handled by Assistant District Attorney Chris Purdum.
