Dear Editor,
Today I watched a video that was broadcast over the internet in which the Mayor of Magee made a fool of himself in front of the entire world. This came right on the heels of much social media chatter regarding our Sheriff’s Department. It seems that many people, including the mayor of Magee, have very little understanding of both our system of government and basic human nature.
Under our system of government, the duty of a police officer is to keep the peace and to bring the lawless to justice. This system also depends on a citizenry that is ruled overwhelming by high moral standards. This is the key Ingredient that is missing in Magee, Simpson County, Mississippi, and our country as a whole.
The police have no more ability to “prevent crime” than any other citizens unless they happen to be at the right place at the right time. It is ludicrous to think that the rate of crime can be measured by the salary of police officers. The amount of pay that officers receive cannot place them at a certain place, at a certain time. Police can, for the most part, only react to crime and make arrests after the fact. It is then up to judges and jurors to administer justice.
The simple truth is that the overall moral down-grade of our citizenry, combined with demographic changes, and the Marxist revolution that has been going on for the last few years have all contributed to increased crime everywhere. The answer to our problem does not lie in “more check points.” I am not so afraid of criminals that I wish to have to stop and “show my papers” every time I go down the road. The answer can only be found in a return to the God of our ancestors and submission to His law. This is the only thing that can bring any semblance of peace to our land.
Until this happens, our society will continue to crumble and devolve into anarchy. History teaches that after anarchy, comes despotic dictatorship. So, let us first pray for repentance. And, while we are trusting God to change hearts, let us remain armed and vigilant. Also, if you happen to know a police officer or sheriff’s deputy who is still willing to do the job after all that has taken place in the last couple of years, you might say thank you. History has taught us that when the local police are gone, they are usually replaced with something very brutal and terrifying.
Respectfully,
Jason McCoy
