Bill Maher is a liberal comedian of the type I usually find more disgusting than funny. However, on his “Real Time” show on HBO last Friday, he made a comment that has me and the rest of the country scrambling to watch it on re-runs.
Maher, talking about the abortion controversy, said that “Anti-abortion people think it’s murder, and it kind of is. I’m just OK with that. I am. I mean, there’s 8 billion people in the world. I’m sorry, we won’t miss you. That’s my position on it.”
It was a definite “oops” moment for liberal pro-choicers who want us stupid conservatives to believe that abortion isn’t murder and that the liberal left supports it only because they care about the rights of women. Maher, though, at least knows what’s up with liberals like himself.
As for his comment that “we” won’t miss “you,” he obviously assumes that “we” are rich liberal media darlings like himself who find murder funny. And by the “you” that “we” won’t miss, he means the rest of us down here in Simpson County and other places where abortion is illegal for moral and spiritual reasons.
That’s the thing about pro-abortionists: they always assume that the baby who is murdered in the process would not have become a “we” like themselves— rich, liberal media and political influencers who are smarter and wiser than anyone who is Christian, middle class, non-Ivy League educated and working for a living. Those aborted babies wouldn’t have amounted to much anyway, in other words.
A statement on the very liberal PBS News defines abortion as “a procedure to end a pregnancy.” What it actually ends is the life of a human being.
There’s so much hypocrisy on the liberal pro-choice front that Maher could make a lot more jokes about their position if he wanted to. Of course, he’d lose those viewers in the process.
He could point out, of course, that while liberals say they support “the right to decide,” what they’re really after is the votes of a public that wants to live a life totally without consequences. Get pregnant when it isn’t convenient? We support your right to stroll over to your neighborhood abortion clinic and get rid of the problem. Just walk away from that clump of cells the doc scraped out that was already a person.
Women’s reproductive health? That’s a joke itself. Abortion is almost never done to preserve the mother’s health. It’s done to keep her from feeling anxious that she has a child coming who will require care she doesn’t want to give.
“It’s my body, it’s my choice”? This hilarious slogan comes from the same liberal camp whose business supporters like
Google, Microsoft, Netflix, Disney, and The New York Times, required that their employees have the Covid vaccine injected into their bodies or face termination. And there are still questions about the safety of that vaccine. How is that —“Your body, your choice”?
The same liberals who oppose capital punishment for any reason support abortion for any reason. Surely they see the humor in their position?
And the liberal feminists who insist that abortion is a woman’s “right” must not know that after sonograms were used to determine a fetus’s gender in countries like China and India, most abortions were performed to remove “less valuable” female fetuses. That kind of hypocrisy ought to get a belly laugh out of the ladies who want the right to abortion!
And with the way that “rights” tend to progress, if we can have abortion to remove an inconvenient fetus, why not a painless process to remove an inconvenient two year old? And as every mom knows, there’s nothing more inconvenient than a a toddler that you forgot to pull the plug on in your third trimester!
And maybe one day soon our growing list of “rights” will give parents the right to terminate a smart-mouthed, eye-rolling 16 year old who won’t do as he’s told and keeps insisting that you buy him a car. Talk about anxiety that produces a women’s (and men’s) health issue! A teenager tops the list!
And what about having to take care of Grandma when her failing health gets tough for you and starts cutting into your social life? In a few years of the growth of “rights,” it will be perfectly legal to slip something into her oatmeal that takes her off to that Big Nursing Home in the Sky with no consequences for you.
I worry a little about all these rights that will become entitlements, but I guess that’s just because I’m not as smart as the average liberal who sees things so clearly. I guess I just don’t stand on their moral high ground.
So I’m going to try to relax and wait for Bill Maher to write some more jokes about murder being okay and a good way to get rid of a few million people that “we” won’t miss anyway.
I’m sure we’ll get a good laugh out of his impeccable reasoning.
