The Simpson County Development District had to back up on their plans for the sale of the property between Highways 13 and 43 south of Bowen Road in Mendenhall, the old industrial park.
The property had a minimum bid price for the entire parcel of $242,000 at appraised price. Only one bid was offered at $125,000. Because the bid had not met the minimum bid standard, it was refused.
The Development District instructed Donnie Caughman, executive director of the Simpson County Development Foundation, to re-advertise the property in the legal notice as well as placing a display advertisement in this newspaper and on the Magee News website.
This advertisement will not be as restrictive as the original, meaning all or nothing. The ad will run starting on November 18 and will be published for three consecutive weeks in the legal section of this newspaper. It will set the specifications for those who may have an interest in bidding on the 110 acre parcel of property and give requirements as well as a planned bid date opening.
