Election results are in for Simpson County. Primary elections were held on Tuesday June 7, to determine representatives for the Democratic and Republican parties for the United States House of Representatives.
The Democratic candidate, Shuwaski Young, ran unopposed for the Third Congressional District and will appear on the November ballot.
The Republican Party produced three candidates for the Third Congressional District: incumbent Michael Guest, Michael Cassidy, and Thomas Griffin. Michael Guest received the majority of Simpson County votes by a narrow margin with 897 votes, and Michael Cassidy followed with 804 votes. The opposite was true statewide with Michael Cassidy receiving 22,879 votes good for 47.5 percent of all ballots. Michael Guest received 22.592 votes for 46.9 percent of all votes casted. Cassidy and Guest will face each other in a Republican primary runoff on June 28.
