JACKSON, Miss. – State Treasurer David McRae is encouraging all Mississippians to report debanking immediately. McRae is joining State Financial Officers from across the country in supporting President Trump’s efforts against this politically motivated practice. Debanking occurs when financial institutions close accounts due to an individual or business’ political or religious views. Account closures can happen without warning.
"The Biden administration used Woke Wall Street to do much of its dirty work, but there’s a new sheriff in town,” said McRae. “Time and again, we saw the Biden administration pressure financial institutions to drop conservatives and conservative-leaning businesses, like legal gun shops – a practice that amounts to nothing less than censorship. While the Biden administration is gone, some of these practices remain, which is why I’m calling on all Mississippians to report now if they have been debanked. It’s time to end the Biden-era censorship policies.”
If Mississippians feel they have been debanked because of their religious or political beliefs, they are encouraged to share their story at sfof.com/debanking.
