JACKSON, MS - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) announces the temporary closure of Tippah County Lake located in Ripley, MS and McIvor Shooting Facility located in Sardis, MS, effective immediately, due to hazardous conditions caused by the winter ice storm in January.
Widespread power and water outages, combined with significant safety concerns involving downed trees and debris, have necessitated complete closure of these locations to protect the public and staff.
MDWFP is currently monitoring the progress of utility restoration and working to clear roads and facilities of storm debris and will continue to assess the situation daily. Further cancellations or extensions of these closures will be announced as necessary based on safety conditions and the restoration of essential services.
For the latest updates regarding closures and reopening dates, please visit the MDWFP website or follow MDWFP on social media.
