The Mendenhall Mayoral Health Council hosted their first annual Community Christmas Luncheon. The event provided a Christmas meal for the citizens of Mendenhall and surrounding cities.
Mendenhall Mayoral Health Council President Jacqueline Kidd said the event was made possible through the help of over 16 sponsors.
Kidd said she and Alderwoman Janna Miller had the idea for a Christmas Luncheon after attending church and realizing that many citizens in the area would not be able to have a proper Christmas dinner. Kidd said she saw this as the perfect opportunity for the Mendenhall Mayoral Health Council to give back to the community with the help of others. The inaugural Christmas Luncheon fed over 250 citizens. Kidd said the Health Council plans to make this an annual event that will hopefully grow in the future.
She said, “We would like to thank our 16 sponsors who helped to make the first Community Christmas a huge success. We also thank the citizens of Simpson County for sharing in this community luncheon with us.”
Kidd advised everyone to be on the lookout for more events from the Mendenhall Mayoral Health Council throughout the year, and to look forward to the Mendenhall Farmer’s Market when weather permits.
