Coming on the heels of a late night the election results have been totaled and finalized for Magee’s municipal election.
The runaway for the night was Sue Honea winning each box in the city. With 343 votes cast in the election Honea garnered 204 which gives her the 50 percent plus one and therefor requires no run-off in two weeks.
Honea is replacing Angel Brister, who did not seek re-election. Honea defeated Paul Arnold who received 86 votes and Mark Ellington who received 53 votes.
Dale Berry has an easy coast to re-election as mayor receiving 318 of the 343 votes.
Another new comer, Mark Grubbs flew into office as Alderman for Ward One. He is replacing Whitney Baker who did not seek re-election. Grubbs received 114 of the 157 votes cast in the district which was 73 percent. He defeated Ruth Ellington, wife to Mark Ellington who was seeking the Alderman-at-large position and David Kennedy.
Ward Two has Matthew Hickman, incumbent, with 46 votes to face Beth McCall Moore with 35 votes in a run-off election. Peggy Taylor received 24 votes. There were 105 votes cast in the box for this race.
Ward Three will have Lane Steele going into the General Election in June unopposed.
Ward Four, Alderman Patrick Brown, also ran unopposed and will appear on the June ballot as an independent.
The run-off election is April 20 and will be only for Ward Two.
The General Election will be held on June 8.
There are a total of 2,262 registered voters in the city of Magee. Of that number 343 votes were cast. The election was determine by 16 percent of the voters. There were a total of 17 absentee ballots filed to vote in the election.
