NATIONAL SUMMARY
Hurricane Idalia will approach Florida tomorrow, getting
close to making landfall overnight. Before landfall there
will still be heavy, tropical rainfall, damaging winds and
storm surge across Florida, especially at night. There will
be periods of showers and afternoon thunderstorms across
much of the East as well, some of which could be heavy
across North Carolina and the Appalachians. Monsoonal
thunderstorms could lead to flash flooding in spots in parts
of New Mexico during the afternoon. Parts of the Pacific
Northwest will also experience periods of heavy rain and
thunderstorms. A few showers will impact Michigan as well.
Southern Texas and the Southwest will be extremely hot with
temperatures in the triple digits.
