NATIONAL SUMMARY
Thunderstorms with flooding downpours, hail and damaging
wind gusts will rumble from central Oklahoma northeastward
to central Iowa and western Illinois tomorrow. Heavy rain
will be the primary hazard with thunderstorms in the Ohio
Valley and in the eastern Dakotas, eastern Nebraska, western
Minnesota and northern Iowa. Showers and thunderstorms are
also expected in the Tennessee Valley. In the Southeast and
northern mid-Atlantic, any thunderstorms should primarily be
limited to the afternoon. The coastal southern mid-Atlantic
and Southeast are likely to stay dry. Meanwhile, an
approaching cold front will cause spotty afternoon
thunderstorms in northern and central Maine.
Record-challenging heat will continue in the Central Valley
of California, and spread northward into the Northwest.
