The Nation's Weather for Monday, August 5, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Showers and thunderstorms, some heavy, will spread from
eastern Montana across the northern United States to Maine.
Repeated rounds of thunderstorms across Minnesota and
Wisconsin can produce gusty winds and lead to localized
flooding, especially in poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Debby will continue to move across
the Florida peninsula. Heavy, flooding rain and wind will
spread across the northern Florida peninsula through the
coast of the Carolinas. Along the coast, there will be storm
surge flooding and dangerous seas. Elsewhere, an area of
high pressure centered over the Rockies will continue to
promote very hot and primarily dry conditions for the
interior West. There can be a spotty afternoon or evening
thundershower in the high terrain from Arizona to Montana.
