The Nation's Weather for Monday, August 19, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Tomorrow, showers and thunderstorms will cover much of the
Northeast with spotty morning showers extending back into
the Ohio River Valley. In the afternoon, thunderstorms in
the mid-Atlantic into eastern North Carolina can produce
flooding downpours that can cause travel disruptions and
localized damaging wind gusts. The Midwest and High Plains
will remain dry and pleasant with fall-like temperatures,
while the Southwest and Texas bake under the summer heat.
Afternoon thundershowers and thunderstorms will also dot the
Intermountain West. There can also be a few spotty
thunderstorms along the lower Mississippi River Valley and most
places in Florida and South Carolina. While Ernesto remains
east of Nova Scotia, there can still be rough surf and rip
