The Nation's Weather for Saturday, September 28, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Heavy downpours from what is left of Helene can reduce
visibility and cause ponding on streets and highways in
southeastern Missouri, northeastern Arkansas, southern
Illinois, southwestern Indiana, western and central Kentucky
and northwestern Tennessee today. Despite only a few
showers, areas of flooding will linger in the mountains of
southwestern Virginia, eastern Tennessee, the western
Carolinas and northern Georgia. Heat and humidity will be
dangerous for those without power in southern Georgia and
the eastern Florida Panhandle. Unusually rough surf and rip
currents will stir up the water along the shore of Lake
Michigan in southern Wisconsin, eastern Illinois and
northwestern Indiana. Record-challenging heat will continue
