Mechelle Thompson and Tracy Bartley release ‘This is the story of: Princess Naarah…Making Friends!’
COLUMBIA, Miss. – Each of the author's passion for life, song, and love for children is evident in 'Princess Naarah…Making Friends!' (published by WestBow Press), the first in a series of books that takes on a life of its own. It has inspired the writer to bring understanding and hope in friendship to children worldwide.
Little Naarah, new to a rural area, had not yet met any children to call friends. A tight-knit family life filled with joy and happiness did not fulfill the role of young playmates. Most of her days were spent on her Papa Tot and Grandma Tear’s farm, playing with the animals.
Although she had an angelic voice and a natural ability to project it, Naarah was too shy to sing in front of an audience, thus keeping her talent to herself. Unknowingly, this talent led to her new friends who would become lifelong pals, but not before learning there was no need to pretend to be someone other than herself. Making friends was not that hard at all.
Children that lived nearby had seen her in the woods and heard her voice, but that beautiful sound stopped them from approaching alone. So instead, they formulated a plan to investigate together to find out who this pretty little singer was... and they did!
'For generations, many issues that children face in everyday life are taboo or left unspoken simply because either the adult or child are unsure of how to broach a subject in conversation, leaving kids to wonder how to process these issues that they may face growing up. This book series will address many of them,' Bartley says. When asked what she wants readers to take away from the book, she answers, 'There is always a way to navigate any situation to help process traumatic or uncomfortable issues that children may experience.'
