March 12, 2025 (Jackson, Miss.) – Mississippi nonprofits are stepping into the future with stronger digital capabilities, thanks to a new partnership between Microsoft TechSpark and the Mississippi Alliance for Nonprofits and Philanthropy.
This collaboration will help nonprofit leaders in Mississippi strengthen their digital skills and integrate artificial intelligence into their work, ensuring they can better serve their communities.
JJ Townsend, representing Microsoft TechSpark in Mississippi, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “Microsoft is committed to supporting organization leaders with the AI and digital skills to effectively navigate and thrive in today’s technology-driven world. By equipping them with these skills, we are empowering them to better serve their communities and drive positive change.”
With Microsoft’s support, the Alliance has hired Tiffiney Carter-Washington as its first Digital Navigator. In this role, she will assess nonprofits’ technology needs, identify challenges, and provide tailored solutions. She will also develop AI resources, host workshops and webinars, and work with strategic partners to ensure nonprofits across Mississippi have access to essential digital tools.
Carter-Washington brings more than 20 years of experience in information technology and computer science, including roles as an engineer for Hughes Network Systems, a COO, an IT department chair, and a software developer.
Townsend adds, “I am thrilled to see Tiffiney take on the role of Digital Navigator. Her background in technology and passion for the nonprofit sector will be a tremendous asset to hundreds of organization leaders throughout the state of Mississippi.”
