The City of Mendenhall will host its 1st Annual Farmer’s Market on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The farmer’s market will be located at Highway 149 and South Main Street.
Twenty vendor locations are available and local farmers are encouraged to set up and sell their homegrown produce. Vendors should call Mendenhall City Hall at 601-847-1212 for more information.
The Farmers Market will be held in conjunction with the Second Saturday Social event hosted by Amanda Johnston, owner of New Beginnings.
Johnston said, “It’s going to be fun, I’m so excited!” She explained that over half of the vendor spots have been filled with local farmers who sell products such as apple butter, homemade ice cream, honey, fresh fruit and vegetables.
She also mentioned that Lighthouse Ministries, which coordinates Manna Food Pantry, will also have a table set up for a canned food drive. Johnston explained that Manna Food Pantry feeds approximately 800 people a month and that a can drive will help their cause immensely. “They have an amazing organization,” said Johnston.
Live music and other activities are scheduled. Several artists who house their creations in New Beginnings Consignment Shop will also be attending the event and selling one of a kind works of art.
The 1st Annual Farmer’s Market and Second Saturday Social, promises to be a fun filled event for the entire family.
Mayor Todd Booth said that the Farmers Market is being advertised as the “First Annual” but could become a monthly event depending on Saturday’s success.
