With the seating of a new Board of Supervisors in January, new committee assignments were necessary to conduct the county’s business.
The E-911 Commission is a seven member board whose appointments are for four years. Todd Booth, Willie Hobbs, Larry Grant, Hugh Hubbard, Chris Tuggle, Charlie Valadie and Sheriff Paul Mullins serve on this committee. The committee has a staggered term.
The Simpson County Development District has 11 members who each serve a four year term. Simpson County Board of Supervisors appoints two members for each district and one member serves at large. District 1 members are Fontaine McNair and Billy Craft. District 2 is served by Robert Maddox and Stacey Warren. District 3 has Brian Barnard and Dennis Ammann. District 4 is served by Robbie Barnes and Bennie Hubbard with District 5 represented by Kenneth Lewis and Steven Ammann. James Smith fills the at-large position.
The Central Mississippi Planning and Development District is represented by Brian Kennedy, Magee Alderman Patrick Brown, and Wanda Cowart.
Peggy Kelly was appointed to a five-year term on the Central Library Board.
Cliff Reed is appointed by the board to a four-year term on the Region 8 Mental Health Board.
Fontaine McNair sits on the Revolving Loan Committee in a four year term.
John Hardy sits on the Region VI Housing Authority for a five-year term.
James Harris, Suzie Thames and Namon Williams serve as Jury Commissioners on four-year terms.
The Poplar Springs Water District’s three members serving four year terms include Terry Jones, Eric Grantham and Larry Jones.
The County Park Commission has four year terms. Representatives are Monroe Allen in District 1, R.D. Nelson in District 2, David Magee in District 3, Pat Brown in District 4 and Ricky Bailey in District 5.
The South Central Regional Solid Waste Authority members are Dale Berry, Lane Steele, Todd Booth, Tim Gray, Billy Smith, Tommy Joe Harvey and Nelvis Rankin.
Chris Dunn serves on the Copiah Lincoln Board of Trustees.
Members of the Work Force Commission are Danny Craft and Brian Kennedy.
The Central Mississippi Planning and Development District Aging Advisory Committee has Donna Craft and Georgia Smith representing Simpson County.
Bo Huffman is appointed by the board to serve in their position on the Simpson County Development Foundation.
