Simpson County Republicans are planning two fund-raising events for Thursday, August 10.
The first event, a private reception for U. S. Senator Roger Wicker, will be at the home of Stacy and Cemper Scott in Mendenhall from 5 until 6:30 p.m. Tickets for this event will be $100 each.
In addition to Senator Roger Wicker, special guests Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves, Secretary of State Delbert Hoseman and Public Service Commissioner Sam Britton will be in attendance.
The reception will be followed by a dinner at the Simpson County Country Club at 7 p.m. Tickets for this event will be $25 per person. Senator Wicker will be the featured speaker for the event.
Wicker has served in the U. S. Senate since 2007, where he is a member of the Republican leadership team. He is a senior member on the Armed Services Committee, chairing the Committee on Seapower. He is a member of Commerce, Science and Transportation, Environment and Public Works as well as Rules committees.
Wicker has served in the U. S. Senate since 2007, after serving seven terms in U.S. House of Representatives on behalf of Mississippi’s First Congressional District. Prior to that, he was a state senator, representing Lee and Pontotoc counties.
Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves is a former chairman of the Republican Lt. Gov. Association. He was named one of the Top 40 under 40 Politicians by the Washington Post. He has been recognized nationally for his work and legal reform in regard to passage of the Attorney
General’s “Sunshine Act.”
Reeves presides over the 52-member Senate and focuses on governmental spending and education reform. Under his leadership, Mississippi has a balanced budget that spends more on education and reduces taxpayers’ overall debt burden.
He is a graduate of Florence High School and received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Millsaps.
He and his wife have three daughters.
Delbert Hoseman is currently serving his third term as Mississippi’s Secretary of State. His job is to ensure the integrity of the election process. He has worked to implement sound management programs for public lands which fall under the direction of his office.
Hoseman has completed the New York Marathon as well as the Boston Marathon and has competed in the Senior Olympics representing Mississippi. He and his wife of 46 years, Lynn, have three children and four grandchildren.
Sam Britton is another of the state delegation who will attend the Republican Gala. Britton grew up in Waynesboro and attended school at Jones Community College before completing his degree in business from the University of Southern Mississippi. He later went on to complete studies in accountancy, then going on to open his own CPA firm. He has worked with the State Auditor and the State Tax Commission.
He is certified and accredited in business valuation, is a certified valuation analyst, and is certified in financial forensics as well as having a host of other credentials.
He is an avid runner and has completed several marathons.
He and his wife Robin live in Laurel.
