A new dimension will be added to Magee’s annual Crazy Day Celebration scheduled for Saturday, October 28, which will make the event even more family centered.
Magee General Hospital will partner with the Magee Chamber of Commerce to hold the Halloween event Treat Street in conjunction with Crazy Day.
Tickets are $5, which includes one ticket for games. Treat Street itself will be held in the alley way between the Magee Library and the Community House parking lot. Chamber President Ian Cowart said, “Just look for the spooks.” The event will run from 5 until 8 p.m.
Entry fee for the costume contest is $5. This is for different age categories and, yes, adults may participate also. A pumpkin carving contest will feature three different categories: Most Professional, Best School Spirit and Best Halloween Creation. The entry fee is $5. Both of these events will take place at 4 p.m. at Ural Everett Park on Main Ave.
For additional information contact Pam Wallace at 601-849-7309.
Funds raised at Treat Street will go to Magee General Hospital’s HealthTrust Foundation to help fund free mammograms for women without medical insurance, an area health fair, and equipment for MGH to better serve patients and community needs.
Cowart, said, “The Chamber of Commerce board of directors have been hard at work the past few months brainstorming ideas on how to improve and make this year’s Crazy Day the biggest yet. We have already accomplished a great deal with our “Project Downtown” with music and the mural, but the biggest question that keeps rattling in my head is, what’s next?”
He said the board’s Lacye Evans made contact with Pam Wallace at the hospital and “this where the idea got started.”
The timing lends itself to Crazy Day being a Harvest/Halloween festival.
Cowart said, “ I know that some of the board members including myself with be dressing up this year. We only ask that costumes remain wholesome and tasteful as this is a family event. We are beyond excited for Crazy Day. There will be tons of new food as well as arts and crafts vendors. He added, “We are also looking to host one of Crazy Day’s biggest car shows as well.”
