Magee Mayor Dale Berry brought to the attention of the Magee Board of Aldermen the numerous improvements the board has made to the city without raising taxes, including the purchase of a new fire truck, a new garbage truck and a new grapple truck as well as the paving project just completed on Main Avenue in downtown.

Magee adds more streets to paving plan

At the recommendation of Mayor Dale Berry, the Magee Board of Aldermen has approved additional paving in the city while the asphalt contractor currently working is still located in Magee.

Supervisors close fiscal year

The Simpson County Board of Supervisors held their last meeting of the 2019-2020 budget year on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
The meeting was held to follow government accounting procedures in order to start the new fiscal year, which begins on Oct. 1 and ends on Sept. 30 each year.

Dilmore to begin as City Superintendent Oct. 5

The City of Magee will soon have a new City Superintendent.
After working through almost 30 applicants the city offered the position to Hugh Dilmore.
He will replace retiring Sperintendent Nelvis Rankin.

Plans are to return to classes on October 21

Simpson County Schools will be back in session October 21 in a traditional setting as much as possible.
Superintendent Greg Paes told the paper on Tuesday morning that plans are for the district to return to class as much as possible beginning October 21.
