Patra Massey May passed away peacefully at her home on September 2, 2024, in Gulfport, MS. Patra was the first child born to Frank Herman Massey and Kay Wright Massey on Oct. 28, 1962. Patra grew up in Mendenhall, MS, attended Mendenhall High School and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Survivors include her husband, Pete May of Gulfport, MS; stepson and his wife, Wade and Leslie May of Madison, MS; granddaughters, Izzy and Hollis May; parents, Frank Herman and Kay Massey of Mendenhall, MS; sister, Cheral (Alan) Williams of Hurley, MS; brothers, Frank Jr. Massey (Kristen) of Flowood, MS, Bill Massey (Angela) of Spring Hill LA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a loving and devoted wife, a friend to many, and “Gamma” to her beautiful granddaughters.
Special Acknowledgement from Patra to Dr. Charles Gruich and Pastor John Mayfield: “Much love and appreciation to my wonderful doctor and pastor. Both of which held my hand and gave me love and support through the entire journey.”
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the First Baptist Church of Mendenhall, Mississippi. Date and times will be announced soon.
In lieu of flowers, Patra requested memorial donations to Chapel of Faith, 18254 Hwy 15, Saucier, MS 39574.
