Sarah “Mildred” Creason Andrews received her eternal rest and heavenly home on Saturday, March 28, 2026. She was surrounded by family as she passed peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at New Zion Baptist Church. Funeral services followed the visitation at 2 p.m. Bro. Andy Delancy and Larry Creason will officiate the ceremony. Mildred’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. She will be laid to rest at New Zion Cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall coordinated arrangements.
Born November 21,1934, in Harrisville, MS, Mildred was one of 10 children of Sam Creason and Birdie Hedgepeth Creason. She is a graduate of Harrisville High School. She was a faithful member of New Zion Baptist Church and had a love for sewing, quilting and antiques.
Mildred married her childhood sweetheart, Joe E. Andrews, Sr., on April 4,1953, and they eventually settled on Andrews Road, leaving a legacy of a marriage filled with love, trust and respect.
Mildred began her working career as a long-distance operator for Bell South in Jackson, MS. She later worked at Universal in Mendenhall. While at Universal, Mildred became the secretary of the IBEW, moving to the administration offices. She then won and proudly served in the office of president for the IBEW. Mildred served as the office manager for Andrews Appliance Service for 6 years. Her final career move was as a tax preparer, where she served her many clients for over 20 years. During this time, Mildred was instrumental in organizing the New Zion Neighborhood Watch.
Mildred was a precious wife, mother and friend. She loved her family and took great pride in each of them, especially the grandchildren. You would often witness that pride as she would rejoice in their accomplishments.
Mildred is preceded in death by her mother, Birdie Hedgepeth Creason; father, Sam Creason; six brothers, and three sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Joe E. Andrews, Sr.; daughter, Angela Andrews; sons, Joe E. Andrews, Jr. (Sue); David Andrews (Darlenia); Mark Andrews (Helen); 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
