Lots of young guys got see action the rest of the way and they all looked impressive as well. It was a great night for the Cougars, but I must give credit to the big guys up front. The Cougars rushed for 324 yards on the night and there were monstrous holes for the backs to run through all night. The line featuring Crosby Mullins, Lee Easterling, Gavin Barry, Garrison Ashley, and Olen Shows just dominated. We have great skill guys but it starts up front on both sides of the ball and these guys make it all happen.
For the night the Cougars had 418 total yards and St. Joe 233. The Cougars had 94 yards through the air with McKenney going 4-7 for 57 yards and 2 TD’s and the youngster Hayes Berry 1-1 for 37 yards. Rushing wise Cockrell led the way with 20 carries for 279 yards. The youngsters Sam Smith and Kade Walker got some carries and looked impressive as well. Defensively, the Cougars were led by their stud middle linebacker Matt Adcock with 10 tackles, and right behind him was Aubren Kennedy with 5.5 tackles.
The Cougars with the victory move to 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in district play. SCA will be off next week before going back on the road the following week to play rival Columbia Academy.
